Yin to Restorative: Finding softness within life’s natural flow

As we transition from summer to fall our daily habits change, we likely come back into a regular routine, the days get shorter and cooler and life can become much more stressful than our warmer summer days.

To help with the transition Karen and Ann bring you Yin to Restorative: Finding softness within life’s natural flow.

As we transition from summer to fall our lives mirror the transition of the seasons. Leaves on trees start to change colors, preparing for their summer to fall transition. Kids go back to school. We get back to a schedule, a routine.

In this two-hour workshop Karen and and Ann will guide you through supported poses as we transition physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually; turning our energy inward as nature does this time of year.

The first hour Karen will lead you through a Yin practice, which will help cultivate space within the ligaments, connective tissue and joints of your body. Poses are held for two to five minutes so that space is found slowly as the body unwinds. Different props are offered in each pose to help your body find support as the unwinding process takes place.

The second hour Ann will help support you in Restorative poses, which will help to relax the body and the mind during what may be a stressful and anxious time for many. These poses are held anywhere from five to 15 minutes. You’ll come into comfortable poses, with the support of blankets, bolsters, blocks and other props. Once the body is fully supported and can relax the mind is able to slow down and come to presence.

All students will be welcome, will feel loved and will be safe.

At the end of our two hour practice you will be calm, relaxed, supported and ready to transition with the fall season.

You will come away with a Yin to Restorative sequence you can practice on your own, which you can practice at home with your own takeaway worksheet, hints and ideas for a home practice set up.

Essential Low Back Therapy Program

This seven-week series follows a protocol developed and used in two National Institutes of Health (NIH) studies on yoga for low back pain. The course includes educational information about the anatomy of the lower back and pelvis, coupled with practices to mobilize, strengthen, and balance the muscles in that area. Course tuition includes a workbook w/audio cd for reference and home practice.

Class plan for the seven-week series:
