 Adaptive ViniYoga: This is a flowing yoga class that includes a gentle warm up, a slowly increasing Asana sequence, a philosophy of respecting the body’s limits, following the breath, and a great variation in the range of motion, which is essential for vitality. This is suitable for all levels. This class helps you reduce stress and calm the nervous system with a breath-centric practice. These techniques really teach you how to relax. The approach is subtle, but powerful, incorporating slow, controlled movements in and out of postures, paired with poses held for longer periods of time. This combination leads to greater strength, flexibility and psychological benefits.

 
Aerial Gentle Yoga:  This class compliments Restorative Aerial and our Foundations/All levels classes. The silk is set at waist height and is an excellent and informative balance and alignment tool. As in an all levels/foundation class or Restorative Aerial, students will move through postures, assisted by the silk, that mirror traditional Hatha/Vinyasa/Yin traditions, but with less total inversion/pressure heavy postures. This is a great option for people who have limited mobility, get a little motion sick, or don’t feel the need to dangle quite so much. This class will also move a little slower giving your Yoga Suggester, Annie, time to help you discover how the silk can best support and grow your practice. 

Aerial Restorative:  This is an all-levels class which uses the silks to gently support gentle restorative poses. This class features deeply relaxing full-body inversions as well as mindful stretches and a long relaxation at the end in the cocoon of the hammock!  Visit the Aerial page on the website for more details. 

Aerial Intermediate:  This Aerial class is for intermediate Aerial students who have taken a minimum of (5) five classes here at Turtles and comfortable with Inversions. This class will exceed your expectations in aerial balanced with a strong yoga practice. You will laugh, move, stretch, push the yoga limits with a gentle wrapping in Savasana completing your experience. Visit the Aerial page on the website for more details. 

Ashtanga-Vinyasa: Ashtanga Hour will consist of a structured sequence followed by a specific focus of seated poses, arm balances, inversions, or meditation. This class is designed to give the practitioner the opportunity to explore a condensed version of the Ashtanga Primary Series. Dedication to this practice brings understanding of alignment principles and allows the practitioner to find their fluidity within the sequence.

Ayurvedic: Ayurveda is the ancient art of nourishing your body, mind & spirit through connection to nature. Each class starts with focused breath work (Pranayama for the season), next is Vinyasa (flowing yoga series) to warm up the body. Then we move into standing poses and balancing poses to address the seasons and organ systems active in that season. You will learn how each pose reflects the organs and ways of your body. We always end with a bit of restorative yoga and an extended Savasana. This is not a hot, sweaty class but more of a balancing class to warm up the muscles, get the joints moving and nervous system relaxed and calm. Ayurveda believes a person is as old as their digestive system, therefore supporting the digestive system is a major focus of the practices in this class.

Barre Flow: This class will strengthen and tone your body while emphasizing correct alignment. Develop long, lean muscles and improve your posture at the same time. We may incorporate props such as barre, stability balls, elastic bands, and weights to intensify the exercises. A great class to take when you want a little bit of everything! Whitney takes this class to the next level. Members are addicted to the results and love the energy of the class- Make this part of your weekly routine. 

Feldenkrais: This is an Awareness Through Movement™ class consisting of verbally directed movement sequences, on your mat and some standing- involving thinking, sensing, moving, and imagining, based on developmental movements and ordinary functional activities, including abstract explorations of joint, muscle, and postural relationships. The lessons consist of comfortable, easy movements that gradually evolve into movements of greater range and complexity. Bringing awareness of habitual neuromuscular patterns and rigidities and expand options for new ways of moving while increasing sensitivity and improving efficiency. Discover how one’s most basic functions are organized and improve how to attend to the whole self to eliminate unnecessary energy, mobilize intentions into action, and improve. Great for beginners, gentle yoga members and all levels.

Gentle Yoga: This class takes a gentle approach to yoga. It incorporates the physical practice of yoga poses (asana), regulated breathing (pranayama) and meditation while giving attention to the form, alignment and intention of poses and movement through instruction and practice. This class gives attention to the form, alignment and intention of poses and movement through instruction and practice. The poses are practiced at a slower and gentler pace. Appropriate for all levels.

Kundalini Yoga: Called the Yoga of Awareness. It is a dynamic, powerful tool that is designed to give you an experience of your soul. In Kundalini Yoga we harness the mental, physical, and nervous energies of the body and put them under the domain of the will, which is the instrument of the soul. This technology precisely and consciously combines breath, mudra, eye-focus, mantra, body locks, and postures to balance the glandular system, strengthen the nervous system, expand lung capacity, and purify the blood. It brings balance to the body, mind, and soul.

Lunch Yoga: Take your lunch break at Turtles! This 45 minute class emphasizes synchronizing breath with movement for a smooth practice that flows like a dance. This is an all levels class.

Level 1 Hatha: Learn the basics of yoga in a supportive environment. Class includes clear and precise instruction in basic yoga postures to build awareness, strength, flexibility and balance. Includes breathing and relaxation.

Level 2 Hatha: Yoga experience required. Continued refinement of posture alignment with focus on connecting to the inner body experience of yoga and deeper study of philosophy. More challenging inversions and backbends will be introduced. Also includes time for pranayama (breath techniques), meditation and relaxation.

Hatha Align: Hatha Align incorporates the physical practice of yoga poses (asana), regulated breathing (pranayama) and meditation. This class gives attention to the form, alignment and intention of poses and movement through instruction and practice. This yoga class draws upon alignment principles while it incorporates physical, mental and spiritual transformation. Appropriate for all levels.

iRest Yoga Nidra: iRest Yoga Nidra, a modern synthesis of ancient yogic meditation with modern neuroscience, is an evidence based approach that ameliorates anxiety, stress, depression, insomnia, and chronic pain. iRest is a guided process of meditative inquiry where the student gently explores physical sensations, breath and energy, emotions, and thoughts and beliefs in order to achieve a state of deep relaxation and to enhance resilience.

Restorative: A style of Yoga in which floor postures, supported by props (blankets, bolsters and blocks) are held for a time to gently and deeply open the body to promote deep relaxation, better health and better sleep. Appropriate for all levels. A great compliment to our more vigorous classes.

Power Vinyasa: Deepen your Vinyasa practice with flows that emphasize precision alignment and muscle activation. Identify, from the inside out, your potential for balance, strength, stamina, and flexibility. Our instructors are lively, verbal, and creative teacher who relies on repeated attention to yoga’s most fundamental aspects to inspire growth in both beginning and advanced practitioners. Explore your edge with standing balances, inversions, aerobic flows and isometric strengtheners. Calm your heart and mind with attention to breath, deep stretching, and savasana that rejuvenate, inform, and keep you coming back to the mat. This class is practiced in a sensible heated room (82 degrees)

Yin: Yin yoga poses apply moderate emphasis to the connective tissues—the tendons, fascia, and ligaments—with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. They are also designed to improve the flow of qi, the subtle energy said in Chinese medicine to run through the meridian pathways of the body.

Yoga for Modern Living: Do you drive a car?  Do you talk on the phone in the car? (We wont tell anyone)   Do you spend time on the ipad or lap top outside of work?  Do you sit for long periods at work on a computer? You are a techie! Yes, you are. Think about this for a moment….  How much time do you spend actually sitting? This is exactly why this class was specifically designed with YOU in mind. In this fast pace world, we are connected by technology in more ways than one. Maddie, your yoga instructor has designed a class to help support your back, neck, shoulders and overall well being. We know you are not going to stop doing your busy life, however allow us to help you create some postures and techniques to make the time spent as a “techie” more sustainable. Relax your neck and shoulders, strengthen and flex your back and open your hips. This class is perfect for you if you work in a cubicle or at a computer! Release stress and tension. All levels are welcome.

Aqua Classes

pool2Aqua Slow Flow: This class is a SLOW flow class catered to new students introduction to aqua yoga classes. We encourage you to feel comfortable in the water and moving your body. You will learn gentle slow form and movements. Practicing postures in water puts less stress on the joints and brings a feeling of expansion, as it allows you to safely experience a wider range of movement. Standing in water while practicing yoga adds uniform resistance for abdominal work against, which promotes a healthy core and strong back muscles. The water resistance also allows you to build strength and endurance without any anxiety or unnecessary pressure to fulfill an ideal and also helps you develop a greater range of joint motion and muscle flexibility. Moving into this practice from a mind-body perspective, water is very soothing & supportive. You will stretch fluidly with the flow of the water and gain an inner sense of relaxation during this practice. This is a intermediate class and you will raise your heart rate and be in movement with the class. Lots of fun. This class is in a warm heated salt pool. No late entries to the class, please be on time, pre-register- this class fills up fast.

Aqua Cardio : This class is a higher level cardio class, you will get your heart pumping and body moving in this hour. You will be practicing postures in water puts less stress on the joints and brings a feeling of expansion, as it allows you to safely experience a wider range of movement. Standing in water while practicing yoga adds uniform resistance for abdominal work against, which promotes a healthy core and strong back muscles. The water resistance also allows you to build strength and endurance without any anxiety or unnecessary pressure to fulfill an ideal and also helps you develop a greater range of joint motion and muscle flexibility.  We will move at a faster pace with more strengthening poses and movements. Be ready to have a solid work out in the pool and move your body. The class is fun, invigorating and motivating. We welcome anyone who has had aqua class experience or who has taken Aqua Slow Flow with Julie and ready to take their aqua class to the next level. This class is in a warm heated salt pool. Normally Lila offers this class as a workshop, however we are the only studio to have The MELT Method® (MELT®) on our weekly schedule and offered to our Members! Lila will introduce you to the MELT Method and during the duration of the months, she will also offer amazing workshops to really dive deep into the beauty wisdom, body movement and more advanced knowledge in various workshops.

Our members LOVE this class. We have both men and woman who take this class and insisted we have it on our schedule. Yamuna and Lila are amazing instructors. They will fill your body with soulful music and expression of movement. This is a great class to get your body moving and freely flowing if you have tightness or just want to learn to feel comfortable moving in your body. If you love Nia, you will LOVE Cardio Dance Fusion, this tunes your body + tones your mind via the expressiveness of movement, the power of martial arts, and the sensitivity of the healing arts – leaving you energized, grounded and glowing! This class is a barefoot non-impact cardio dance is always adaptable to individual needs and abilities.

Perfect for relieving stress and balancing the nervous system. Everything you see around you is vibrating at a frequency, whether we hear it or not (yes wifi and all those gadgets you love give off a frequency too). Sound frequencies can effect us on a cellular level, influence how we feel and function. Sound healing practices like a Gong Bath uses vibrational sound and frequency to help reduce stress, alter consciousness and create a deep sense of peace and well being for better health. To greater amplify the healing effectiveness of a Gong Bath all you need to add is intention. Adding good intentions to your everyday living is a holistic way of thinking and even though you may not believe in such things, just give it a try and you might be surprised by the results.
